Eastman Camera Club Topic for September 18

We have two guest speakers coming to the September 18 meeting to talk about Astrophotography, which is the use of photography in astronomy for photographing celestial objects and phenomenon.  Jeff Arrington and Bryan Phillips will be covering some high level considerations for Astrophotography, including
  • What is Deep Sky Astrophotography vs typical astrophotography?
  • Overview of equipment used for astrophotography
  • Techniques for capturing various types of astrophotography.
  • Jeff’s recommended reading material (learn from his mistakesJ )
  • Techniques and software use for image processing
The surprising thing is you don't have to have anything more than an entry level DSLR, an inexpensive kit lens, a sturdy tripod, and some software to make a photograph like this.

Here's some other examples of photos along with the specs on the photo hardware and software used.

As you can see, stunning images can be made with what most of us already have.

They will also be talking about photographing the Milky Way.
