August 16 Camera Club Meeting

The topic of this month's meeting is Smart Phone and Tablet Apps For The Photographer Do you have an iPhone, Android Phone, iPad, or Android tablet? There are many great free or close to free photography apps for these devices. We want to share your favorites in the meeting and need your help.

1. If you have an iPhone or iPad with apps you want to show, bring it Thursday night. We can connect it to the projector and you can demo it for the rest of us.
2. Send a list of your favorite apps to rsiggins@eastman.com.   I will compile them and make the list available to club members.
3. Don't know what we're talking about?  Come to the meeting and find out why a smart phone or tablet may be your next photography accessory.

When sending the list of your favorite apps, please include the following information:

• Name of the app
• What does it do?
• What does it cost?
• What devices does it run on?
• How would you rate it?  (Waste of time, OK, pretty good, fantastic)
• Describe why you like or dislike it.

Calculates sunrise, sunset, twilights, golden hours, length of day, the path of the sun and moon, moonrise & moonset times and more for any date, anywhere in the world.   Has an interactive map that allows you to plan your outdoor shoot around the direction of the sun, moon, etc.
Cost: $2.99 for pro version.  Free version also available
Runs on: Android phones
Rating: Fantastic
I use this app to plan my sunrise/sunset shots.  It tells me where the sun or moon will rise or set, what time, and allow me to see it on a map.   This has allowed me to pick good sunrise shots in a place I've never been to before.
