Black & White Conversion Workshop May 19th

The Camera Club of Oak Ridge is hosting a Color to Black and White conversion seminar featuring Karen Jones. They have several seats available for those wishing to attend. The workshop is free but space is limited to first come first served!

We are pleased to announce that Karen Jones has graciously agreed to share some of her techniques for black and white conversion at a workshop we have scheduled for May 19th.

Title:  Black & White Conversion with Photoshop & Nik Software Silver Efex Pro 2

Location: 333 Tuskegee (Fire Station 3), Oak Ridge, TN
Time: 9 AM - 3 PM (Break for Lunch)
Equipment Needed: A laptop is recommended (see important note below) but not required and a power strip.

Workshop Outline:

  • Overview of Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 interface
  • Discussion of Ansel Adams 10-point Zone system
  • Convert images using only Photoshop's Black & White adjustment layer
  • Convert images to B&W using only Silver Efex Pro 2
  • Split-toning
  • Tinting
  • Infrared conversion
  • Borders in Silver Efex Pro 2

4 - 6 images will be supplied to download and work on together for those who want to bring laptops.

On-going discussion as we work on the images together for those who do not have laptops.

****IMPORTANT**** IF YOU DON'T HAVE PHOTOSHOP OR NIK SILVER EFEX PRO 2 - YOU CAN DOWNLOAD A TRIAL VERSION FROM ADOBE & NIK - BUT - YOU SHOULD WAIT UNTIL THE WEEK OF THE WORKSHOP TO DOWNLOAD NIK BECAUSE THE TRIAL VERSION IS ONLY GOOD FOR 15 DAYS. CHECK WITH ADOBE TO SEE HOW LONG THEIR TRIAL VERSION WILL REMAIN ACTIVE.
