Winter Photography Weekend - Pine Mountain State Resort Park, KY

Do you have the winter photography blues?  You know, when it's hard to get excited about going out in the cold to try and find something to photograph.  Here's an idea to get you past the blues and out shooting. 

Spend the weekend at Pine Mountain State Resort Park on January 23-25, 2015. The weekend will consist of a digital photography contest and evening programs by guest professional John Snell (www.johnsnellphoto.com). There will be 2 judging classes for the competition, Amateur or Accomplished, and 4 photographic categories in each class.


No excuses, whether new to the field or experienced, this weekend workshop will offer beautiful scenery, great programming, and lots of fun!

Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category, and an overall best of show will be awarded.

Cost to enter the competition is $30.00 early bird registration or $35.00 for day of registration.
Packages are also available through the front desk and include entry into the competition and lodging. Package pricing can vary depending on lodging choice.

Camera Club Meeting - End of The Year Party

Come join the Eastman Camera Club for the End of The Year Christmas Party at 6:30 on Thursday,

December 18.  


Due to a scheduling conflict, the Eastman Camera Club meeting this Thursday December 18 has been moved to Room A1 in the Eastman Lodge at Bays Mountain.   The Eastman Lodge is located in Eastman Chemical Company's Bays Mountain Recreation Area.  The Recreation Area is located near the City of Kingsport's Bays Mountain Park.  Here are a map and directions:

• Get off I-26 at the John B. Dennis / Wilcox Drive Exit (Exit No. 51). 
• Turn left at the red light at the end of the exit ramp, and go back under I-26. Go 0.3 miles to a red light (you should be able to follow the brown Bays Mountain Park signs from here). 
• Turn right at the red light, go 0.1 miles, and turn left onto Princeton Road. 
• Go 0.2 miles and turn right onto Diana Avenue. 
• Go 0.6 miles to a stop sign at Reservoir Road. 
• Turn left and go 1.5 miles on Reservoir Road. 
• Turn right on Bays Mountain Road and go 0.6 miles to the Eastman Lodge (there's a fork in the road before you get to the Eastman Recreation Area; take the right fork. The left fork goes up the mountain to Bays Mountain Park. Immediately after you take the right fork, you will pass through a gate. Go about 0.2 miles and the Eastman Lodge will be on your left.

Bring your favorite Christmas goodie to share and enter to win door prizes.

This year we want everyone to bring their two favorite photos from 2014.  We will collect all those and share during the meeting.   You can email your photos to Richie Hayward before the meeting or bring them to the meeting on a USB thumb drive.

Our tradition is to bring our favorite photography gadget for show and tell.  It's a great way to get ideas for Christmas gifts.

Camera Club Meeting This Thursday - Photo Contest Judging

The program for this Thursday is the contest judging.  Anyone is welcome to attend and listen to what the judges have to say about what makes a good photo.   The big show starts at 6:30 PM in room 219 in the Eastman Auditorium.

Just a few days left to enter the Eastman Camera Club 2014 Photo Contest

The deadline for entering your photos to this annual contest is November 11, 2014.   Don't miss this
opportunity to showcase your photography and compete with other club members for cash prizes.

Contests are an excellent way to get feedback on photos and see what works and what doesn't.  Something that makes our contest unique and easy to enter...there is no printing or matting unless you win!   This keeps your enter costs very low compared to other print contests.

You don't have to be an Eastman employee to enter, but you do need to be an Eastman Camera Club member.  Joining is only $10/year for affiliate members (non-employees).  See our website on how to join.

Contest entries can be turned in between September 22nd and November 11th.  There are two categories, color and monochrome, with three levels of competition; Proficient Amateurs, Amateurs and Youth.
