May 9 Camera Club Meeting - Hands On
The next meeting of the Eastman Camera Club is for the beginner to intermediate photographers out there. Got a new DSLR and don't know Av from P? Curious about when to use manual focus? Want to know about selecting a lens, tripod or other accessory? Bring your camera and join us at 6:00 PM on Thursday May 9.
The format is hands on, which is the best way to learn. We will have some of our more advanced members available to help you with your questions, give you tips, and generally share their photographic wisdom and knowledge. We hope to spend most of our time outdoors in the Eastman picnic areas on Bays Mountain. If we run into bad weather then we'll move indoors in the Eastman Lodge.
Important - This is not our normal 3rd Thursday or normal location. It is May 9th and is at the Eastman Bays Mountain Recreation Area
We will start at Shelter #40. Check out this map for location information.

Eastman Camera Club Meeting - April 18
Due to Travelogues and the Photo Contest, it's been a long time since we had a monthly Camera Club meeting. The time has come to get back together.
The next meeting is 6:00 PM Thursday, April 18. The location has changed to Room 225 in the Eastman Employee Center on Wilcox Drive in Kingsport.
The topic for this meeting is "Showcasing Your Photographic Work Online". We will have club members lead discussions on four different online photo sharing websites - Facebook, Zenfolio, SmugMug and Google+.
You can upload your photos by following these steps:
Remember, don't go to the Eastman Lodge -- we won't be there. The meeting is in the Eastman Employee Center.

We will be restarting the monthly photo challenge, with a twist. We all benefit from honest feedback on our photos. It's the best thing we can do to help each other. However, people are hesitant to say anything about another's photo that might be interpeted as critical. The twist is photos are to be submitted and cirtiqued anonymously. We will not know who a photo belongs to during the meeting. If they want to, the photographer can tell which photos are theirs at the end of the meeting, but not before. This is only going to work if people are willing to be honest in their feedback.
The challenge for the photos to be reviewed April 18 is examples of where you have used light modifiers such as reflectors, shades, articicial lights, etc. to enhance your photos. Those of you who attended the workshop on March 23 will want to show us what you learned. You can upload your photos by following these steps:
- Point your web browser to www.skydrive.com
- Log in using r.siggins@charter.net as the account and shutter as the password.
- Click on the April 2013 - Light Modifiers
- Do not create your own folder. We're going to put them all in one folder this time. Give your files a name that is unique but does not identify the photographer.
- Upload your files.
Try to keep the file size to 2 MB or less. Bigger does not display better and slows down the sharing process.
Remember, don't go to the Eastman Lodge -- we won't be there. The meeting is in the Eastman Employee Center.

April 6 Wildflower Photography Outing Rescheduled to April 20
Mother nature is not cooperating with the Eastman Camera Club plans. The latest scouting report (big thanks to Fred Martin) from Laurel Run Park finds few flowers and not many more buds. It looks like there will be few flowers to photograph on April 6.
We are moving the outing to April 20. All the other information is the same.
Meet Time and Place: McDonald's in Church Hill 201 Silver Lake Rd, Church Hill, TN
Time to meet in parking lot is 8:00 am. From there it's only 15 minute drive to the park.
