2013 Photo Contest Winners

There were so many great photos in this year's contest that they judges had a hard time picking winners.  After deliberations the winners are.....

You can see by the scores that they were all very close.   Where there were ties, the judges discussed the merits of each photo and agreed on 1st, 2nd, 3rd or honorable mention awards.   The number of awards in each category was determined by the number of photos entered in that category.

The winning photos will be on display in the Eastman Recreation Center Lobby April 18 - May 7.   We will also post copies of the winning photos online soon.

Date Change - April 20 Photo Outing - Spring Wildflowers!

It's been a while since we have had a Camera Club outing.  What better time to restart than Spring.

When: Saturday  April 6th   April 20th.

Meet Time and Place:   McDonald's in Church Hill 201 Silver Lake Rd, Church Hill, TN
Time to meet in parking lot is 8:00 am. From there it's only 15 minute drive to the park.

Here's what photographer Mark Peacock says on his blog about Laurel Run wildflowers and Spring.
"...the woods are full of wildflowers ready to bloom. If you love spring wildflowers, look no further.
It's not that there a few wildflowers scattered here or there -- they're everywhere
."

Other opportunities to photograph are the Amis Mill and House in Rogersville and Rice's Mill in Church Hill.  We'll decide as a group where to go after we have shot all the wildflowers we can at Laurel Run.

The Big Event! - 4 Day Kentucky Photo Tour

You want to sign up for this trip.  We are planning a 4 day photography outing to Kentucky, including Shaker Village, The Kentucky Horse Park, a distillery, a horse farm, and downtown Georgetown,  one of the most picturesque Victorian downtown areas in Kentucky.

The dates are June 6 - 9, 2013.  Plans are to rent a couple vans and everyone ride together.   Depending on the number of people who sign up, we will be staying in a rental home or hotel.  Our top pick for accommodations is the Ferryhouse Hall, a 13 Acre Gentleman's estate, but we'll need to get some early commitments to lock in that place.   There are other smaller but still nice places we are considering.

Cost will be around $350 - $400 per person and includes van rental and accommodations.  Food, entrance fees, and your share of the gas are extra.

The group size is limited to 16 people.  A non-refundable $100 deposit is due by April 1 and can be paid at the Eastman Recreation Office in the Eastman Employee Center.

Are You Coming To The Portrait Mini Workshop?

Please contact Jamie Aiello to let her know if you will be attending this workshop.  We want to make sure we have am idea of numbers of people.

The Eastman Camera Club is sponsoring a mini workshop on portrait photography.   This is a great opportunity to learn the basics and become familiar with some of the photographic equipment the club has available for rent, including backdrops, studio lights, radio triggers, and the monitor calibrator.

We have rented a great room upstairs at Stir Fry on Broad Street.   We're asking each person to pay $10 to help defer the cost of the room.

The workshop is being taught by Jamie Aiello and other members of the club

For more information contact Jamie Aiello .
